Chat design for a domain name marketplace
The project was developed for Brandpa. Brandpa is a website where people can find and purchase a registered domain name.
I led a project that revolutionised how sellers, designers and admins interact: through the design of a chat, Brandpa not only gained a competitive advantage (a solution that competitors lacked) but also gained loyalty from all parties.
Problem
Sellers were complaining about the slow domain listing process and lack of control over how their logos looked.
Due to an increased popularity of Brandpa, more and more sellers were coming in and needing logos for their domain names. Demand increased from 43 logos per month to over 1000 per month. With one designer on board, designing 1000 per month wasn’t sustainable and needed to be addressed.
Solution
I design a chat system the sellers and the logo designers could use in order to collaborate on the logo designs. It enabled the sellers to provide more immediate and personalised feedback on their logo design.
Clear communication guidelines
Project transparency
File sharing with safety
Private & Group conversations
Outcome
The design not only increased users’ morale and made many of them become Brandpa’s brand ambassadors, but also differentiated the product within the domaining industry: the sellers who were using Brandpa’s competitors would leave them to list their domains on Brandpa.
